The City of Sacramento has obtained $4.6 million in regional transportation funding designated for the third phase of the Franklin Boulevard Complete Street initiative. This comes after approximately $20 million has already been invested in upgrades along the corridor.
The funding was approved by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Board of Directors through its 2026 System Preservation Program, aimed at enhancing key transportation infrastructure in the area. The awarded funds will mainly focus on pavement rehabilitation as part of Phase 3, which aims to boost safety and improve roadway conditions along Franklin Boulevard from 32nd to 38th Avenues.
Jesse Gothan, a supervising engineer in the City’s Department of Public Works, noted that this award highlights existing progress and is crucial for the upcoming developments. The total estimated cost for Phase 3 is around $18 million, and the city is seeking further funding for additional enhancements to support pedestrians and cyclists.
