From the City Manager: What’s happening around Sacramento

There is an abundance of activities and events occurring throughout Sacramento, ranging from community gatherings to City services. City Manager Maraskeshia Smith is dedicated to keeping residents informed about these happenings.

On October 14, the City’s Office of Arts and Culture alongside Visit Sacramento will hold the 2026 Cultural Tourism Symposium at Aggie Square, aimed at discussing how Sacramento’s cultural assets can boost tourism and local businesses. The symposium is open for registration at $10, which covers lunch.

Additionally, the Department of Youth, Parks and Community Enrichment will organize family-friendly Halloween celebrations at various community centers on October 16, featuring haunted houses and costume contests. For those interested in local history, the Sacramento Archives Crawl on October 17 will allow residents to visit four open-house locations, with free bus transportation provided. Finally, the Highwater Jamboree will take place on the same day to educate residents about flood preparedness.
